I love David Suchet's voice and the way he reads that is attentive to the content. I appreciate the lack of a sound track. I read from the American NIV which has a few words here and there that are different from the Anglicized NIV sold in the UK though it is not enough to distract.

I've been waiting for this to arrive on American markets for a long, long, long time! It's here, and I am so excited! David's rich voice, intonation, and enunciation makes sure you can follow along and sense the nuances of scriptural context.I listen to this quite often. And am happy to recommend it to anyone else looking for a good narration of the Bible.

Over the years I have purchased complete, or selective recordings of the Bible. This is better than Lawrence Olivier or Charleston Heston's recordings. This morning I listened to Suchet reading Rachel's death in Genesis: "So Rachel died, and she was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem), and Jacob set up a pillar over her tomb. It is the pillar of Rachel's tomb, which is there to this day." I was deeply moved. Suchet was sorrowful, but not maudlin. Just how did David do it? He's an actor. He was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He was fortunate to receive training under theatrical director John Barton. Barton believed in carefully examining the printed words to express the proper passion. And David did.

This is an absolutely beautifully voiced rendition. I listen to many audiobooks and know how the narrator can affect the experience. Of course you should try the sample yourself.Caveat: The audio book formats don't match up with the Bible books, but it's not that hard to bookmark the starts of the Books you want to hear.

My family listens to this recording for free on the Bible Gateway website. We have also listened to the dramatized version, and the versions read by Max Maclean or George W. Sarris, but we prefer listening to David Suchet's voice. I decided to purchase the audio Bible as well so that we can listen offline.

Literally, this audio version of the New Testament is changing my life right now. I never knew how impactful it could be to just listen to the word of God. I don’t get distracted like I do when I am reading.

Higgins brings together a plethora of photographers who shoot outside the box or with innovation so that you can put aside all the photography books that explain how to do it and reach for what another has successfully tried that has resulted in an image you might not ever have considered before.

It would be possible to be slightly mislead by the subtitle of this book - it's more about modern "photographs" explained rather than modern "photography". This book will not help with your technique although you might get some ideas about subject matter. Cynics might also suggest that it might make you more critical about deleting images you regard as failures! Such is the world of modern art - and this is really more about appreciation and understanding of modern art in the form of photographs. It does this by looking at about 100 images from different artist/photographers grouped into several themes:portraitsdocumentsstill lifeactionlandscapeabstractFor each image Higgins looks as why it is considered a "work of art", the approach of the artist, where this fits in the development of photographic art in general, comments by the artist and other ephemera as well as similar images by the artist and sometimes notes on the equipment used although less on the post image manipulation techniques that may have been employed.The structure of the book works well and it's good to either read through or to dip into. In a world that's awash with photographs, through Flikr, Instagram et al, it is highly moot what makes these images so "artistic". To some extent this is true of all modern art. And as with other aspects of modern art, there are times when I feel that, like a good joke, if art needs an explanation then it wasn't that successful in the first place.It's very much a visual book - as you might expect - with explanations of the artists' intentions etc. However, this means that if fails to address what makes any given image art rather than a good or bad photograph. However, if you are into the modern art aspect of photography, this is a more interesting book than if you come at it with a photographer's hat on.

This book was well written with contributions from many people that knew and loved Freddie, the man. It starts off with heartfelt memories and facts from a close friend of Freddie's, and from his first serious male lover. It then goes into memories and quite poignant and sweet stories from others throughout the book. It was all written in good taste, and made me appreciate Freddie even more, which I didn't think was possible.

He remained a private, shy and quiet man among those who met him briefly. His very close friends enjoyed partying with him or hanging out at Garden Lodge. He was a lover of life. So many of his friends were devastated with his death.

Nice to see friends perceptions of a great entertainer. He was aman with many sides that also was a genius. Four men who made Queen who they were. I wish I could have seen him live as i grew up with the music. Sadly missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace sweet prince keep singing with the angels.

I love the fact that there were so many different people data input into this book. Got to see the many different sides of Freddie Mercury. Love his music and still miss him to this day!

This was a wonderful read! I really enjoyed reading all the different stories about people's experiences on meeting Freddie Mercury. It made me feel close to Freddie myself. I smiled,laughed,and cried my way through it. Definitely not another blah blah kind of book! I truly loved it! Freddie would be proud! :)

Learned about Freddie from those who knew him. I enjoyed reading this book. Sad when it ends because I love Freddie so much?

Loved knowing more about Freddie, but really wonder if he'd be unhappy with his very private life being written about...I have the same thoughts about Hutton's book.

I was searching for a simple board book with instruments and their names only and this bilingual one fit the bill. Each page features one instrument on a colored background, as you see on the cover. There is a also a small amount of adornment (repeating stock images in silo form) on each page aside from the main instrument on each page. Otherwise, this book is great, just wish there were more instruments because my toddler is obsessed with instruments.Instruments included are: electric guitar, drum set, violin, piano, trumpet, saxophone, bongos, tambourine, double bass, harp, harmonica, bagpipes, clarinet, flute, bass drum, trombone, acoustic guitar, mandolin, accordion, conga drums

Love these for new grandson, my daughter is bilingual in German and my son-in-law is learning, so baby and Daddy can learn together. Plus Daddy is a musician, plays several instruments and teaches young children. So my new grandson will hopefully be inspired. My grandson is being brought up bilingual, we all have some knowledge of the German language. Great construction of this hard page book, no bad smell. We'll be buying more in this series, possibly in other languages as well.

This book is not truly a book, it would better be described as my first bilingual flash cards, each page only has one word (the name of the instrument in the picture) in English and Arabic exactly like the cover. Most of the words are cognates anyways so it is almost pointless to have both languages written. It is a very lazy book that could have been much better had the author actually used at least one sentence per page.

The books in the "My First Bilingual Book" series have colorful, good quality images, sturdy pages, and the size is relatively small. These are great books for households where both parents don't speak Italian, since they provide the word in both Italian and English. The only downside (for the whole series) is that it's not a story book, it's a dictionary/flashcard style book, so it can sometimes be difficult to hold a baby/toddler's attention with this. With the limited Italian bilingual material out there, I would still highly recommend this. The "Music-La Musica" one lists a wide variety of instruments. There was one mistake - for flute (il flauto), they have pictured a piccolo.

I bought this book for my son when he was 8 months old, and for the last 7 months this book has been among his favourites. He likes the other two from this series, Animals and Fruits, almost as much, but this one is preferred of the three, probably because the book depicts people which he finds interesting (like most other babies, he likes books with pictures of babies, but this one is the only one we have that clearly shows adults). The pictures of people in various occupations are well taken and diverse: photographer, fire-fighter, waiter, office worker, doctor, teacher, etc. There is a good mix of males and females (although I've never heard of a female car mechanic LOL) There is a couple of small image imperfections related to photography touch-ups (the eyelashes of the plumber are clearly exaggerated, and so is the glove-like wrinkled skin on the car mechanic's hand); no kid would notice it though, and it makes it more entertaining for us, adults, to read it, if anything else; so no complaints.

The content is excellent. The contrast of colors is great. The items and writting stick out. The book is awesome.My complaint it the quality of the binding. The book fell apart rather quickly. I don't know if I got a dud that fell apart quickly or if that happens for all the books.Since the book fell a part somewhat cleanly/evenly, I can still use the pages that fell out to teach my son as large picture cards.

It is hard to find bilingual books here in the United States, especially the Turkish English ones, so I was happy to have found these on amazon. I was not so happy with the pictures in the books and also there were some misspellings in one of the books I purchased on here. I'm not sure if I'd buy other books.

The illustrations are very nice. This is a good book to inspire my husband to speak to our baby in Cantonese. I like that not only Mandarin, but also Cantonese speakers can use this book. It is useful for Chinese speaking parents to teach their American born kids. I plan to purchase more books in this series.This book does not include pronounciations for English speakers- it is best for kids who are already growing up bilingual and have speakers of both languages in the family.

This book is the best I have ever read on why the Washington needs to be cleaned up? Written as a satire it hits home on what the progressives and the bureaucracy have done to this country. Our representatives in Washington need to step up and start limiting what the bureacrats can do before its to late. If they can't do that, they shouldn't! be there. How did we get here? Power. You see it everywhere. The thirst for power shapes all aspects of politics. Government shapes all aspects of our lives. Our founding fathers would be appalled. No where does the constitution provide for rules and regulations set forth by unelected officials. Taxation without representation led to the American Revolution. If there is one thing history has taught us, it’s that history always repeats itself. Save the Swamp is wonderful satire that provides excellent discourse on the true cost of big government: Fewer choices, more expensive goods and services, less privacy and bigger corporations.But with both political parties craving power, it’s hard to imagine the Swamp will ever be drained. Maybe someday when social security runs out of money yet retired bureaucrats continue to collect rich pensions will people demand real reform.

Good summary of the viewpoint of the Washington D.C. swamp from the rest of us taxpayers. But the difference is that the writing is from what we envision the perspective of the alligators and slugs to be.

The Swamp in D.C. must be saved, from every overpaid bureaucrat to each unpaid intern. Otherwise, Americans could not possibly provide for each other! We all know that government invented schools, retirement savings, and cleanliness; how could 300 million people possibly create and trade such values without a few hundred electeds and an army of bureaucrats telling them how to do it? /sarcasmBut seriously, to read Dr. Krannawitter's work is a pleasure and a gift. He has a way of communicating ideas that is simultaneously entertaining and enlightening. His passion for research has given him a knowledge of history that allows him to identify the root cause of so many problems. In concert with his knowledge of philosophy, he is able to break through all bias and show us there is common ground for all humanity. Just as important, Thomas' manner is affable and he always delivers his sage opinions with humor and due respect, so he can appeal to a wide audience and still make them think. I cannot wait to read this book!

Having worked and lived in the Swamp for 6 years, I can attest to the truths revealed in this excellent political satire. It will stand up to the test of time along with Johnathon Swift's "Gulliver's Travels".

Fantastic read, satirically illustrates that most government bureaucracies, if not all, are a complete waste of taxpayer money. Challenges the conventional methods for fixing problems.
