Being originally from the Pittsburgh area, I've experienced a long line of sports heroes from Bill Mazeroski, Willie Stargell, Chuck Noll, Joe Greene to Ben Roethesberger. Mario Lemieux came along in the eighties during a lull in local sports highs and picked up the mantle. This book filled in so many blank spaces in my memory of the Penguins and rekindled my interest in the team. Very well written and it really gives you a flavor of how Pittsburghers react to their teams. Younz will love this book

It was great to relive my memories of Lemieux, and was a quick and enjoyable read. As a life long fan of the PENS, I Think you will like this book of how Lemieux impacted the Penguins and the City of Pittsburgh.

A nice easy read. Nothing ground breaking in here if you already know the story of Lemieux. If you don't though this is a good book to learn just how much character he has. I thought it was a good read.

What a wonderful story of the man and the legend of Mario Lemieux. I read this book at the same time that I watched the playoff games and the finals of the 2017 Stanley Cup. It was great to see Mario in his checkered jacket and the pride on his face when the Penguins hoisted their 5th cup at center ice. I couldn't help but be amazed with everything that Mario did on and off of the ice that built the Penguin's organization into the powerhouse on ice that it has become. Jason Zemcik once again has captured the excitement of the Pittsburgh magic in the sports arena. His books on the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins are a must read, not only within the Pittsburgh sports community, but for all who enjoy the history of competitive sports legends.

Great book! Great story! Great man! Every Penguin fan will love this quick read about an amazing man and his many achievements during his playing years and well beyond. Fantastic Christmas gift for every Penguin fan on your list. Order it now!

Jason managed to carry me back to all those feelings I had when I overcame a childhood distaste for hockey due to growing up in a hockey town and discovering the best player in the game played for Pittsburgh.It is a well written book that highlights the important parts of Mario's career in Pittsburgh without getting bogged down with the ladder points that hardcore fans might want. Discussing the differs between Gretzky and Lemieux and their competitive nature would not work in a book about his impact on the Pens and Pittsburgh.It did reveal somethings i didn't know such as Mario's true intentions regarding Kansas City, I always believed that deal was too good to pass up and the move was a real possibility of Pittsburgh didn't step up.It is a great quick read for any Super Mario fan or fan of Pittsburgh and sports and is recommend it to many of my hockey friends.

This book is so powerful that at times I must pause and praise God, it hits me so meaningfully. Difficult reading for this non-seminary trained reader but so rich and thought provoking that I'm at times brought to tears, other times to deep gratitude, and other times, such joy in my salvation.

Most Christians, at least in the modern day American church, have the theological depth of a sidewalk puddle after a short drizzle of rain. The idea that one could write almost 200 pages detailing and explaining the depth and wonders of the atoning work of Christ is, for most christians, unthinkable. Stephen Charnock masterfully displays the glories of Christ's work on the cross and in the hearts of the penitent sinner. If you want a deeper understanding of how your Savior saves you, this is a great read! Biblically based, and theologically sound, this is a must read for every christian - whether you are a babe needing some milk, or full grown man longing for the meat of God's word.

Anything by Charnock is worth reading.

I have not started reading it yet but it looks pretty good.

it was good, but had some points I did not agree with and did not have anything about baptism -like what the bible states.

Here we have a dandy little volume of just under 200 pages published in Scotland by Christian Heritage (Christian Focus Publications). The writing is deep, painstaking, and littered with Scriptural references - as is common among most puritan writers. But when I say deep, I mean really deep. This book is difficult to read in some sections due to Charnock's depth of focus and intentional building from one point to the next, sewing, as it were, a tapestry of the puritan theology of the atonement of Jesus Christ. Although it takes some stamina for the present day USAmerican mind to make it through, perseverance is well worth the effort.Charnock is a no-nonsense kind of guy. Though instructive and gentle, his swift quill is oft times sharp enough to draw blood. Consider this quote from page 110, "Those who lay claim to a relation to God without imitation of him are not children but bastards. They may be of his family by instruction but not by descent. There is no implantation in Christ without an imitation both of the Creator and Redeemer." Ouch.What I did NOT find helpful was the attempted "modernizing" of some of the phrases and terms used by Charnock. The publisher tried to make the book more understandable by inserting short definitions and alternate wordings in parenthesis in the text. All this did was irritate me. The text should be left alone, and if I need help on a 17th century term, I'll look it up.Overall, I give it three stars out of five. Charnock's massive work, "The Existence and Attributes of God," though nearly 1,200 pages long is a better read and a more comprehensive theology. But if you are looking for a quick study into the puritan mind of Stephen Charnock, this book will keep you busy for an evening or two.Dr. Mike Kear

What warning signs to look for, regardless of the drug. There is a genetic basis for the addiction and that the process of being addicted changes the person. We see the behavior that changes but not the changes to the receptors in their bodies which push the addict to higher and higher doses.It treats an addict not as a criminal to be shunned, but as a human being in need of support, compassion, and understanding as they battle with this disease.The best way to treat a disease is to understand it; this book explains it all well. There are references if you want to learn more, and case studies at the back.For your self, for those you love, get this book.

I love this book. It gives so much information. It explains in a very relatable way, what to look for and look out for when using medicines. It also makes you aware of what to convey to your doctor in order to ensure you won't have problems down the line. The book is informative and easy to read. It conveys the information in a way that makes you forget you are learning and gets you caught up in the stories. I would highly recommend this book to everyone. But most especially to parents, loved one and patients that are on or are in need of pain medication.

I never truly understood the meaning of addiction and why it happens until I read this book. I now can see why addiction happens and how difficult the battle of overcoming addiction often takes several attempts.

This is a great introduction to addiction and addiction treatment. Some other reviewers faulted the book for being repetitive. It is. But I found the repetition of the main ideas to be helpful. Overall, I highly recommend the book as an excellent first book for individuals struggling with addiction, their families, and for health care providers looking for a first book to help make sense of addiction.

It’s very important to know all aspects of addiction. I learned how to discuss it properly with my kids versus using fear driven tactics; “you better not do drugs! They’ll ruin your life!” That’s kind of a given. Even 8 year olds know that. This book educates what drugs do. Signs to look for, just gotta read it. My whole family has been thru addiction, I’ve lost family and friends to drugs and alcohol. I thought I knew everything- I knew nothing.Read it

Fascinating read from an experienced pain management & addiction treatment physician. Not a textbook or otherwise "scholarly" book, as much as it's a font of information based on this doctor's hard-earned knowledge, long experience, and keen perception. This is a fairly quick read w/o a lot of "inertia" to it. I don't agree 100% with what he says, but even the doubts are thought provoking.

This is an approach to understanding addiction or non addiction in common sense language. It should be required reading for anyone who has ever taken pain medications, street drugs,pot or even had a drink of alcohol.Dr Oh's message has got to get out!

I read this book through borrowing library. I think it is an excellent book for a picture and concepts for software engineering. It is a very good reference for those who entering software industry.

Unfortunately the sample for Kindle contains none of the text, just the TOC. This makes it impossible to evaluate for my purposes. How do I tell if I like the writing style or level of exposition.
