This was a bit of a slow burn and forbidden romance between a shifter and a human and also a single dad romance. River had became alpha and noone in his pack seemed happy about it especially since river didnt fancy women and that was the only way he would be able to have children and what good was an alpha who could produce a child who would later take his place? then river fell for not only a man but a human which was also forbidden among his pack but he couldnt help who his bear chose as his mate and his bear wanted Darius. Darius was a single father and lost his wife in a car accident and didnt realize his own sexuality until he met river and his attraction to river was too strong to deny and he wasnt even going to try fighting it.They knew they would deal with many obstacles with rivers pack hating humans and not agreeing with rivers life choices and then people in Darius's life weren't a fan of river or his pack either. They saw river as dangerous and did'nt trust him to be around Darius or his son parker. But Darius and river coukdnt fight they way they felt for ome another and whatever issues they faced, they would face them together. This was a sweet love story between two people who fell in love and fought for their love.It was an easy and quick read with some steamy scenes with a happy ending! I can't wait to read more from this author!

I absolutely enjoyed reading this splendid, entertaining MM bear shifter romance. The plot is well-thought out and written with characters that are distinctive with unique individual personalities. There is: a alpha bear shifter of the Ironshore bear clan looking for a mate & heir (Rivers), his caring friend (Kyra), a single dad battling with sad memories (Darius), his young precocious son, (Parker), a devious bear shifter (Eli) a rather judgmental bear shifter from a neighboring clan (Jaxon), some twists & turns, drama, devious plans, deceit, prejudice, conniving elders, clan politics, suggestions, business deals, memories, attractions, manipulations, verbal banter, misunderstandings, emotional turmoil, abduction, blackmail, conflict, determination, love happiness, steamy scenes & a well-deserved happy conclusion.I would recommend this MM bear shifter romance.“I received a complimentary copy from Booksprout, and this is my honest opinion”

Having arranged a deal with the neighboring Bear Clan Alpha Bear River was heading to the diner when he hear the cracking noise of a rope starting to snap. Looking around he spots a new sign being lifted into place across the road and under it was a man engrossed on his phone unaware of the danger above him. River runs across and knocks him out of the way thus meeting the human Darius who he finds himself attracted to. As they are getting up Darius's son Parker come running up and when he finds out River was heading to get some pie asks his father if they can get some pie too. As they eat their pie River finds himself drawn to to Parker too. A Bear Shifter romance to relax and enjoy.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was an amazing story. I am glad that Darius got a second chance at love. He has made a big improvement since we first met in the first book of the series.Darius is a recovering alcoholic and is trying to make things right with his son. On a chance encounter Darius meets River who is an alpha bear shapeshifter to a nearby clan. River is instantly intrigued by Darius and believes that they are mates. Darius is still dealing with the loss of his wife and mate. They have things to work out before they become official. Will they be able to work things out?I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

River is alpha over a clan of bears that doest like human or gay in their clan and is struggeling with a lot of people thats unhappy about the way he leads the clan. River meet Darius, who is mate. Darius is a widower and has been mated before. Both River and Darius has some issues to work trough. They are a sweet couple and River will do anything for Darius, Darius son si adorable and want his dad to be happy and someone to take care of his dad. This is a good story with a lot of sweet and hot moments.

River is a gay alpha in bear clan that is not tolerant of humans or gays. Because of that his leadership is questioned, support is not always there for those who folks don't approve of. He meets Darius and realizes that this is his mate. This widowed - his wife has died- man with a son. They are attracted to one another and they are the answer to what each other needs. Great story.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was my first book involving bear shifters and I very much enjoyed it. River and Darius had such good chemistry with each other and I loved how precocious Parker was, he was such a little spitfire. It was nice to see a novel like this tackle a painful issue like alcoholism with Darius. Seeing his struggles, the consequences of his drinking on multiple aspects of his life, and the affects on those around him. It was very well done. River’s issues with abandonment and anger were also very well dealt with. I also didn’t know this was the third in a series and am looking forward to reading the first two and others by this author.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Absolutely fantastic! A well written emotionally deep romance. The storyline is flawless, funny, witty, enjoyable, and very interesting. The story flows smoothly and moves along at a brisk pace with a few ups and downs and a mix of emotions on every page. The chemistry between them is intense and their sex scene is beautifully written and HOT!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

DARWIN'S DANGEROUS IDEA: EVOLUTION AND THE MEANINGS OF LIFE

Amazon.com Review

One of the best descriptions of the nature and implications of Darwinian evolution ever written, it is firmly based in biological information and appropriately extrapolated to possible applications to engineering and cultural evolution. Dennett's analyses of the objections to evolutionary theory are unsurpassed. Extremely lucid, wonderfully written, and scientifically and philosophically impeccable. Highest Recommendation!

I had high hopes for Dennett’s book on “Darwin’s Dangerous Idea” but unfortunately I found his writing style to be incredibly tedious. Dennett is a philosopher by trade and he writes like one. I thought the copious use of footnotes and dates on every other page to be distracting and I was never able to find a comfortable rhythm with his writing style. I managed to get to chapter 14 before putting it down and calling it a day. That being said. Evolution is a fascinating subject and there are plenty of great books on the subject, “The Blind Watchmaker” by Richard Dawkins”, “Why Evolution is True” by Jerry Coyne, and “The Origin of Species” by Charles Darwin, are some examples. If you like philosophy and are interested in Darwin’s theory, Dennett’s writing style might be for you. But if you want a more straight forward book on the subject you might want to look elsewhere.

Although a 521 page book, I felt as if I read a 900+ page book. This is probably because I frequently reread through sections for a more concise understanding. My caveat: do NOT autopilot (not pay attention) when reading because you will find yourself lost. Can have things been explained more feasibly? Maybe, maybe not but I don't think that is up for my judgement so I will not reflect that in my rating. As a 20 year old accounting student, i'm sure its viable that I haven't seen many inquiries on these subjects before. Luckily, if you get lost at some point you're not doomed for the rest of the book. Different chapters and even sections take upon new topics, almost fully unrelated to the one before. I gave the book a 5/5 because I found many sections to be intellectual engaging. I can remember when sitting down in the backyard outside my grandparent's house, with a view of just grass and a golf course, I was a brain-frying 20+ pages deep that day when I happened to finish the chapter. I put the book down, smiled, and lightly uttered the words "damn" as I laid there on the lawn chair for a few minutes. I was happy because knowledge is a gift, and this book had a whole lot to supply. When I read this book I sort of felt out of touch with general society, in a sort of rewarding and intellectual way. The author, Daniel Dennett, is ostensibly intelligent and well-researched. He challenges many popular theories and ideologies with prudent insight. Many notable figures are talked about, such as Darwin of course, John Maynard Smith, Chompsky, Gould, Alan Turing, Aristotle, Dawkins, Skinner, etc, just to name a small few.4.6/5

I am a simpleton. My biology grade was something to blush about, and if I had this book 40 years ago when I was studying the basics of biology I would have tried for an A plus. This book not only explains but educates on so many levels.Daniel C. Dennet is a great author and I compliment him on this book.It is not only a great read, but children should be reading it as soon as they can grasp these concepts.I can recommend this book as one of the greater books I have studied, because you not only read this book.

To fully grasp Dennett's arguments in "Darwin's Dangerous Idea", lots of preparatory reading is required on various authors and topics including, but not limited to: Stephen Jay Gould whom the author targets his most scathing criticisms of, Gould's colleague, Richard Lewontin, American linguist and philosopher, Noam Chomsky, mathematical physicist, Roger Penrose, cognitive scientist, Jerry Fodor, adaptationism and gradualism, reductionism, saltationism, memetics etc. Dennett spends little time in introducing the reader to the works of these authors and their ideas, and instead, debunks anything and everything that attempts to weaken Darwin's natural selection theory. In a heated and publicized exchange resulting largely from Dennett's attack on Gould with an entire chapter of "Darwin's Dangerous Idea" devoted to discrediting him, Gould, who is considered the foremost authority on espousing the views on evolution called Dennett a "Darwinian Fundamentalist" who has reduced biological and cultural evolution to a largely mindless algorithmic process.Dennett introduces two new metaphors of cranes and skyhooks which he uses repeatedly in his arguments. Cranes are the lifting mechanisms facilitating the design of organisms. They are grounded and explainable. Skyhooks are imaginary, unsupported and supposedly capable of advancing organisms in leaps and bounds in unexplainable ways. Dennett morphs some of the ideas of his detractors into skyhooks, and because skyhooks cannot exist, they have to be either falsehoods or reduced to cranes. The subtitle of "Darwin's Dangerous Idea" is "Evolution and the Meanings of Life", but throughout the 500 plus pages, Dennett dabbles in hostile territory, unapologetically attacking critics of natural selection as the primary engine of evolution. Perhaps this book should have been divided into two parts; one titled "Evolution and the Meanings of Life", and the other, "Duel of the Titans."

This would be my "desert island" book. One of the most important books of my life. I would never want to be without a copy of it. I never really understood thhe ramifications of evolution until I read this book.

A phenomenal read. Dan Dennett is a philosopher, yet he blends evolutionary theory into this book and does it well. Great read for anyone interested in Darwin, evolution, philosophy or religious impact on science.

This was an enjoyable book. Maybe a bit difficult or lengthy for some readers. Dennett covers the full range of topics, but also includes philosophical, historical, mental(mind), linguistic, ethical and morality arguments (or proofs) for concepts of real existence and religious delusions.
